A man was killed after a fall Friday evening while working at the I-285/Ga. 400 interchange, authorities said.
“We are aware of an incident that resulted in a fatality last night on the Transform 285/400 Interchange project,” Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Natalie Dale said. “Our deepest sympathies go out to the worker’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.”
It’s unclear exactly how far the man fell, but Dale said GDOT is working with the developer and project team to learn more.
In a Facebook post, the Sandy Springs Fire Department said first responders were able to quickly reach the contractor before taking him to the hospital.
A spokeswoman for Atlanta-based North Perimeter Contractors confirmed the worker was one of their employees and said the company was deeply saddened by the death.
“At this time, we are conducting an investigation,” spokeswoman Annalysce Baker said.
Another contractor was killed while working at the interchange last October.
