A Nairobi-based boda boda operator is staring at three months behind bars for falsely accusing two police officers.
Wycliffe Wafula, who was working for Glovo, a courier service delivery app, claimed the two constables, Shadrack Oginda and Nelson Muguna, stole some items from him.
According to Nairobi News on Tuesday, August 11, Wafula alleged that the two made away with two pizzas, three bottles of Gilbeys gin and cash amounting to KSh 8,700.
The incident allegedly happened along Lang’ata road in Nairobi county on July 6 and the rider made the report on the following day.
Through the National Police Service’s Internal Affairs Unit, Lang’ata police station’s corporal Reuben Kosgey took up the matter for investigations.
Wafula made the accusations after he was arrested in possession of 30 litres of illicit liquor which he picked from a motorist in Karen.
Appearing before the Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani on August 11, the accused admitted to having given false information.
He also admitted being in possession of chang’aa.
In her judgment, Gandani directed the accused be sentenced for two months for the false accusation and another one month for carrying the illicit brew in violation of the law.
He was also given the option of fine; KSh10,000 for giving false information to police and KSh 5,000 for possession of chang’aa.
